An old favorite...

So, I found an old song the other day that I used to play on repeat in college when my life revolved around thinking about my future, praying for god to put "the one" in my tracks, job searching, and oh yeah, buying jeans.....gotta love your early 20's....

I have always loved Ben Folds Five and heard this song and it stopped me in my tracks. Brought back so many memories and dreaming of the day I would have a reason to feel a connection with this song, the lyrics....I wanted to post them because I think it is one of the prettiest songs that I have ever heard. I encourage you all to listen to it...I truly feel like the luckiest girl these days and feel so blessed to really live the lyrics...

"The Luckiest"

I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
That I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

Sweet Summertime....

Ready to run errands, Mom!

The big girls, Olivia and Kayla, playing on Saturday night while we enjoyed the food and drinks....whohooo Italian wine!

Ella after a walk with dad and the puppies..I finally got to go to the grocery store by myself. Shouldn't be a luxury, but....

Scotty and Kayla...thanks, Kayla for helping sit Ella Friday night!

We have had an insanely busy summer. I absolutely adore the fabulous weather and the walks with Ella. She is getting so big and is more and more a "real" baby now instead of a fragile little newborn! Still very much a newborn, but, you know what I mean....her personality is starting to come out (just a little bit!) and smiles all of the time. It is the most precious thing to see first thing in the morning!
Ella's colic is still rearing its ugly head and the medicines really aren't helping all that much. I am starting a probiotic today and hope that we see some improvement. I am willing to try anything. I have read a lot about women getting the antibiotics for group B strep and the effects it has on the natural good bacteria babies have in utero and the correlation b/w antibiotics and colic. Anything, and I mean antything, I will gladly try! I talked to our pediatrician about a cranial therapist and I was about laughed out of the office. Guess I won't be trying that homeopathic remedy. Can't blame a girl for trying!

We were actually able to get out and get dressed up this past weekend! It was wondeful to get out of the house for a few hours to celebrate with Abby and Kent! Marko and Tiffany watched Ella while we went to a wine party for Abs and Kent. I had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed my glass of wine. Oh, how I have missed the vino...Big hugs and kisses to Marko and Tiffany! I was so worried that E was screaming the entire time but I guess she wasn't. Even if she was, Tiffany is such a sweet friend, she would probably never tell me!

We spent the rest of the weekend running, running errands, cooking out with the Vajda's and chilling out. A perfect weekend.....

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer as much as we are.....wish us luck with E's colic! Hopefully, we are going to be seeing improvements soon.

Ella loves Uncle Marko....

Scotty and Me at the party....

Sweet bride-to-be! Can't wait for the big day, Abby! We love you!

This one is for you, Uncles Bob and Paul! Don't you love her pink and green outfit? Paul, thanks for the sweet mud pie duds!

Ella smiling

So, I know that I might be a little biased (read very biased, obvi), however, my child is pretty darn cute. She is smiling like crazy lately and I caught a pretty good one on camera. Look at that smile!! She was smiling big time today when Daddy came home. She already has him wrapped around her finger. She loves Daddy and as soon as she hears his voice she starts looking around and then smiles big when she sees him. Wow, she already knows how to play the both of us. She is already pretty dramatic as she is using her hands to communicate (look at her little arm in the air!). Anywho, here are some pics of our ladybug today. Yes, I realize it is only Monday.....

7 weeks old today!

Little Ella D is 7 weeks old. Insane! Our cool Chicago summer is flying by and we can hardly believe it. We had a big week this past week! My best friend, Sara, and sweet baby Kendall came up for a visit and it was SO NICE to have them here. We took a lot of walks, did some shopping, and just talked and talked. It was so nice for it to just be the girls and us....budding besties for sure....

I am slowly getting Ella to nap in her crib a little bit. It is really nice to lay her down in her crib and have her actually, you know, sleep for at least a little while. She is still sleeping in our room for now and I am thinking that the 3 month mark will be a good time for Ella's transition out of our room and into the pink oasis that is her room.

On Saturday, the day started out great. We took a walk to Starbucks with Sara and Kendall and I took Sara to the airport and left love bug with Daddy. Because we had some fabulous colic free days in a row, I was singing loudly to my ipod, crusing down 90-E knowing that my little one was at home with Daddy, being an angel that she was while Sara was visiting. Not the case....I got home and she was fussy and crying...I was a little worried about that night because I had a big night planned with girlfriends for the Rascal Flatts concert! Well, my intuition was spot on...I was only able to stay at the concert for a couple of hours until I called to check in and heard sweet little Ella in the background screaming and not taking her bottle. Such a bummer! I guess we need to give our little fuss pot another couple of months before going out for a fun night. It was so nice to have my 1.5 beers, though! First drinks in 11 months! Seriously! Next time girls, I will be whooping it up, don't you worry...we all know that I have it in me....

I posted some pics from this past week/weekend! I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend...here's to starting another week!

Love you guys!

Baby girl is 6 weeks old?!!

Yes, our Ella is 6 weeks old. Unbelievable. Our time has flown by together...

We spent our Sunday morning this weekend running to Panera and getting the newspaper...pretty perfect, right? Ella was such a good girl yesterday. We were able to run to the airport to pick up friends and have dinner with our friends last night....nights have historically been pretty tough so we were elated to have dinner at the Vajda's last night (even if I did wear baby Ella strapped to my chest the whole time- thank you, wear-n-wrap!)

We were SO excited to see our friends, Karen and Jeff Hays, this weekend!!! We were unable to meet up for breakfast so Karen swung by our place to meet Ella on Saturday. We cannot wait to go out to CT to visit Karen and the boys! I see a girls weekend in NY in our future, right Karen? It was bittersweet to see Karen b/c it reminded me of how much I miss my friend!! We will see you soon, Kar-bear!

This week is super exciting for us because Sara, my best friend in KC, is visiting on Thursday! We can't wait to see her and meet baby Kendall! Scott will be outnumbered this week for sure! We can't wait for some girl bonding time....

Pics from the hospital...

I totally forgot to post pics from the hospital. I figured I would do it while I was good and productive tonight- dinner made, spin class in, baby fed and being held by dad, dogs fed (even if we are out of dog food and it consisted of rice and challah bread).
These pics are on the announcements we are sending out as well....hope y'all enjoy!

Love and kisses to all...
